All 12 Major Scales Trumpet Fingering Chart
Complete circle-of-fifths keys with written notes, valve combinations, and Concert B♭ equivalents
C Major Scale
Tuning: Extend your 3rd valve slide ~1.3 cm on D4 (1-3) so the 2nd scale degree locks in tune.
G Major Scale
Tuning: E5 (Open) on the 5th partial naturally sits slightly flat; keep air buoyant or test 1-2 on sustained chords.
F Major Scale
Tuning: Slides stay neutral throughout F4–F5; support D5 (1) and E5 (0) with brisk air to keep the 5th partial centered.
B♭ Major Scale
Tuning: Kick out the 3rd valve slide on D4 (1-3), then pull it right back in as you transition to E♭4 (2-3).
D Major Scale
Tuning: Start with 3rd slide extended on D4 (1-3); keep slides fully closed at the top on C♯5 (1-2) and D5 (1).
E♭ Major Scale
Tuning: Test both Valve 2 and 2-3 on top E♭5 to see which locks best in tune on your trumpet.
A Major Scale
Tuning: Low C♯4 (1-2-3) and D4 (1-3) sit consecutively—keep your 3rd valve slide extended across both notes!
A♭ Major Scale
Tuning: Extend your 3rd slide ~2 cm on D♭4 (1-2-3) and retract smoothly when lifting Valve 1 for E♭4 (2-3).
E Major Scale
Tuning: Top E5 (0) sits on the 5th partial; test 1-2 on sustained tonic chords if Open E5 reads flat on your tuner.
D♭ Major Scale
Tuning: Extend 3rd slide generously on starting note D♭4 (1-2-3); top D♭5 (1-2 or 2-3) needs zero slide extension.
B Major Scale
Tuning: Kick out 3rd slide on C♯4 (1-2-3) right after B3 (2), then retract cleanly on D♯4 (2-3).
F♯ Major Scale
Tuning: Zero 3rd-slide extensions needed in F♯4–F♯5! Watch E♯5 on the 7th degree—it is enharmonically F5 (Valve 1).

Classroom & Practice Binder Tips
When printing from Chrome, Safari, or Edge, set Scale: Fit to Page Width and enable Background Graphics in your print dialog so the dark filled piston circles (● = Pressed, ○ = Open) render with crisp contrast on physical paper. Band directors and private instructors are welcome to photocopy and distribute these sheets freely to all students.
