Trumpet Practice Metronome
The 4-BPM Acceleration Rule
When practicing Arban double-tonguing or Clarke Study #2, start at a comfortable tempo where your fingers and tongue synchronize effortlessly (e.g., 84 BPM). Increase by only4 BPM per repetition. If you miss a note, drop back 8 BPM and build up again.
Internalizing the Downbeat
Our metronome accents the downbeat (Beat 1) with a distinct higher woodblock tick. Practicing scale runs across 2-octave ranges requires clean arrival on beat 1 without rushing the turnaround at the peak note.
