ENHARMONIC NOTE DICTIONARY
E Sharp (E♯) Trumpet Fingering
Written Notation: E♯4 / E♯5|Sounding Pitch / Fingering: F4 / F5 — Valve 1
E sharp (E♯) is enharmonically the exact same pitch as F natural. Since E and F are naturally a half-step apart, sharpening E raises it to F — played with 1st Valve (1) in both the first space (E♯4 = F4) and top line (E♯5 = F5).
Commonly appears in F♯ Major (6 sharps), C♯ Major (7 sharps), and F♯ Harmonic Minor.

Why Do Composers Write E♯4 / E♯5?
In Western classical and wind band tradition, music notation is governed by diatonic grammar. Every major and minor scale must contain exactly one of each letter name (A, B, C, D, E, F, G).
